Volunteering

What volunteering can do for you

  • Meet new people
  • Boost your confidence
  • Gain work experience
  • Learn new skills
  • Help your community

Who can volunteer?
Volunteers are welcomed from all sections of the community, to support all sections of the community - in fact - anyone at all can volunteer!

Do you have some free time? Do you want to get more involved?

People like you are needed to help other people in your community.

What could I do?
You can choose from many different kinds of work and you can do as much or as little as you like. Some examples of volunteering are:

  • Befriending - could be giving some company on a regular basis to someone who is isolated or someone with a learning difficulty
  • Driving - this could involve taking older people to day care centres or lunch clubs; driving disabled people; driving people to visit relatives in hospital
  • Children & Young People - helping out at a playgroup or youth club
  • Adult Education - assisting others with basic reading, writing and arithmetic
  • Older People - helping at a day care centre, befriending, reminiscence work, assisting with special activities and social events
  • And much, much more - including gardening, simple DIY, office work, fund raising, IT, sport, advice and counselling
  •

Fife Council is working with partners in the Voluntary Sector which aims  to reduce loneliness and isolation among vulnerable people living at home in Fife, who are socially isolated because of illness, disability or some difficulties in their life. This project will link to the Integration of Health and Social Care and the growing pressure on both NHS Fife and Social Work Service to manage the growing demand for services for Adults and Older people.
