Money advice

We provide free, independent, impartial and confidential money advice and assistance to the residents of Fife.

We can help you find the best option to deal with your debts. You can either arrange to see a money adviser, or we can provide a self-help debt action pack.

We can help you deal with your creditors and advise on making the most of your income.

We can advise you what to do if you face:

  • creditors threatening to take you to court
  • being evicted
  • having your gas or electricity cut off
  • compulsory deductions from your wages
  • arrestment of your bank account
  • becoming insolvent (bankruptcy)

View our Money Advice Policy.

If you would like the Money Advice team to help you with your debts, please complete an appraisal form. This is available in Microsoft Word format and can be emailed to us at money.advice@fife.gov.uk.

You should also complete a mandate online. Please note that individuals in a couple or partnership both need to complete a mandate form.

Alternatively, these documents can be printed off (see publications) and once completed, posted to the Money Advice Team, 1st Floor, Fife House, North Street, Glenrothes, KY7 5LT. Please mark your envelope "Confidential" to ensure that your form is not opened by staff outwith the Money Advice Team.

If you would like a debt action pack then contact us on the details provided.

Information is available on Money, Tax and Benefits  at the Direct.Gov website.
