Household waste collections

Service Disruption - 18 Jan 2017 at 09:19

Due to several breakdowns in our glass collection vehicles, residents may experience some issues around the uplift of glass from Recycling Points.

We are making every effort to provide alternative vehicles and will empty the bins as soon as possible.

Your waste and recycling service may change over the festive period.

  • There are no bin collections on 26 Dec and 2 Jan. Bins due to be emptied on these dates will be emptied on 24 Dec and 31 Dec. Check your bin collections at
  • Recycling Centres are closed 25 & 26 December and 1 & 2 January
  • There are no special uplifts from 23 December until they restart on 9 January
  • You can recycle your real Christmas tree by chopping it up and placing it into your brown bin, or by taking it to a Recycling Centre

Over the festive period Monday bin collections will be picked up on the Saturday before, the 24th December and the 31st December. We do not expect any disruption to our service but in the event your bin is not emptied on either of these dates please present it for collection again the following Tuesday (27th Dec or 3 Jan) and we will uplift it then.

We operate a Four bin service service for the majority of our residents in Fife.

Special/bulky uplifts

We collect bulkier items from the kerbside which may not fit in your bin. Book this service by calling our Recycling Helpline on 03451 55 00 22.

Recycling Points and Centres

We operate a network of facilities in your local area to make recycling even easier for you.  Visit our recycling sites page for more information.

Advice for presentation of bins during high winds

Please help us during periods of high winds by only putting your bin out when necessary.

Assisted collections

We can help if you are unable to put your bin out for collection and have no-one to help you. You may be able to get an assisted collection service if you are elderly or disabled. This is also known as 'take out and return'.

To request a 'take out and return' call the Recycling Helpline on 03451 55 00 22 or fill in our online form. Someone will then get back to you.

Household clinical waste collection

Some clinical waste needs separate disposal in an incinerator. Your GP or NHS practitioner will tell you this.

Contact NHS Fife to clarify if your medical waste needs treatment in this way.
