Public Transport is a key priority for Fife Council and our Transportation Services work closely with the commercial operators of taxis, buses, trains, ferry and airport authorities. The aim is to maintain and develop a multi-modal quality network of infrastructure and services throughout and beyond Fife.

 

The development of strategies for accessible, community and rural transport, concessionary travel, taxis, information, fares, local and inter-urban bus, ferry and air travel are all in progress.

We operate Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Leven main bus stations whilst Stagecoach in Fife operate the bus station at St Andrews. ScotRail operate all the railway stations in Fife whilst Network Rail are responsible for the track and infrastructure. Over 95 percent of bus Services in Fife are provided commercially. However the Council provides support for concessionary travel.

 

We are also promoting major works at a number of railway stations and bus stations to make public transport more attractive and encourage modal shift thereby improving the environment for the people of Fife and our visitors.
