| Description |
Fife Council Criminal Justice Social Work Service aims to provide services and work within partnerships that contribute to community safety and public protection. Objectives include: Delivering services in accordance with National Outcomes and Standards for Social Work Services in the Criminal Justice System; Effective risk assessment and risk management of offenders; Targeting resources at offenders who are at risk of custody and are deemed to present a risk to the public; and, working in partnership with other services and agencies to ensure credible, consistent services that promote social inclusion. Work undertaken includes: Bail and diversion from prosecution services; Provision of social enquiry and other reports to assist decision-making by the Courts, Procurators Fiscal and Parole Board; Statutory supervision of offenders in the community; Providing a social work service to the courts and those appearing before the courts; Statutory supervision of offenders following release from prison; and,voluntary support to ex-prisoners and their families. Providing effective supervision and intervention to offenders subject to statutory orders and produce reports for courts. You must have previous experience of working in a social work setting. Previous experience in this field of work would be an advantage. It is essential you have knowledge of National Outcomes and Standards. Knowledge of what works and Effective Practice literature would be advantageous. Opportunities for your continuous personal development will be made available. A Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) qualification is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council. Previous experience in this field of work would be an advantage. You must have the ability to travel throughout Fife.
