Milesmark Primary School was built in 1876. It is a small four teacher school which serves the north-western outskirts of Dunfermline. The 94 children are split into four classes and these are accommodated in an historically attractive Victorian main building and hutted accommodation. The main building also houses a games hall, which couples as a dining hall, a multi purpose resources room and staff and office accommodation. The school has a modern well equipped kitchen and school meals are cooked on the premises.

There is a large tarmac playground, marked with a wide range of playground games, a netball court and lines for the cycle training scheme. The playground has two large shelters for inclement weather and a school garden which is currently under development by the parents to make it more child friendly.

Milesmark is a small community where the children benefit from an informal and relaxed working relationship with staff. A relationship which the children feel is secure and stimulating and which encourages them to pursue their learning with enjoyment and increasing independence.

Our aim is to create an environment where pupils, staff and parents can work together to enable the children to develop their full potential. The curriculum, pupils and staff are supported by visiting teachers of P.E., Drama, Music, Art and Design, a Classroom Assistant, one Part Time Special Needs Auxiliaries, a Support for Learning Teacher and a Clerical Auxiliary. Several children in P5 - P7 are being taught to play a brass instrument.

We have a very active and supportive School Board and PTA. A Pupil Council has recently been established to discuss concerns and issues raised by the children.

Milesmark has a range of extra curricular activities including three after school clubs, football for P5-7, Jumping for P1-3 and Fighting Fit for P4-7, and we make full and effective use of the local environment to support a wide curriculum.

Parents are welcome to contact the school at any time to make arrangements to discuss any aspects of school life on their child's progress.
