Strathallan Primary School opened on Tuesday 9th January 2007. The school lies in the west of Kirkcaldy and is part of the Balwearie High School Cluster. The school lies within a housing estate and is bordered by the beautiful Raith Estate containing woods and grass areas. The school can accommodate 13 classes from Primary 1 - Primary 7, (13 are presently in use). We have a significant number of placing requests as a result of parents visiting the school, commenting very favourably on our ethos and learning and teaching provision.
We are very well resourced and interactive whiteboards are in every classroom including the nursery. We have now gone wireless.
The nursery is a 60/60 placement allowing children 3-5 to achieve their full potential through motivating play activities incorporating quality teaching and learning play experiences. Our teaching allocation is 0.8 based on the nursery census. Our last Care Commission Report was extremely positive. All children are encouraged to experience all areas of the curriculum based on Child at the Centre. Our nursery children experience the Forest Kindergarten using the Raith Estate. Expectations for our children are different taking into account maturity and ability. The nursery is implementing the Early Outcomes relating to the Curriculum for Excellence. We believe the nursery to be an integral part of the school.
The management team consists of Mrs McBain - Headteacher, Mrs Logan and Mrs Edwards- Depute Headteachers.
We have tremendous support from our parents, feedback at all events and iniatives together with parents nights have been very positive and encouraging. Our parent forum is extremely important to us with regards to the work of the school e.g they are currently supporting road safety events, learning and fundraising.
We have a breakfast club and an after school club.
