Local Community Safety Initiatives

As well as giving advice and home visits to their communities, Glenrothes Station activities during the year included attending public events such a B in the Park where they were able to engage with young people about the problems of fire-related anti-social behaviour.  Glenrothes Station has also hosted several Fife DiversiFIRE graduations, giving crews and enhanced opportunity to communicate with both the young people involved and their families and friends.  Specific activities included:

Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme - This programme continues to provide young people from local schools with training in fire safety, first aid and practical teamwork.  Although not specifically targeted towards fire-related anti-social behaviour, this gives the Service another avenue of approach to engage with young people and stress the consequences of such behaviour.

School visits - As with other stations, Glenrothes crews have visited local schools to talk to young people about secondary fires in the area, and other fire-related anti-social behaviour issues, usually on the approach to times of peak activity such as summer and the months of October and November.
