Saline Primary School Image 1

Saline Primary School is the only primary school in Saline and was initially built in 1875, with additional builds being added over subsequent years. The school serves the villages of Saline and Steelend plus numerous farming families within our catchment area. The aspect of the school and the education experiences on offer, are enhanced by the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and by the Ochil Hills to the North. The majority of our pupils walk to school with the children from Steelend and the farming community travelling by bus.

The main school building houses both the school office and the Head teacher’s office, the gym hall, reading resource room, library/resource base, staff room and three classrooms with the 'new' building housing three classroom, dining room and our new "state of the art "ICT suite. The two hutted buildings are occupied by the Nursery and our music class/ Staff Learning Base. The playground has recently been entirely resurfaced as part of our major building project which took place in 2008 with a "Link " building joining the two separate buildings.

Saline Primary is proud to work with a very supportive and active School Board and Parent /Teacher Association. Our "Pupil Voice" is very important to us at Saline PS. Children are involved in the decision making processes through commitees such as Pupil Council, Eco Group and Health Group. We also encourage pupils to take on responsibilities such as Playground Monitors, Peer Mediators and Junior Road Safety Officers.

 Our Vision

At Saline Primary School we base our vision, values & aims on wisdom, justice, compassion and integrity, in line with the four capacities and seven principles of the Curriculum for Excellence.
To achieve our aims, every child and young person in our care will be protected from abuse, neglect or harm and be given support in learning to make healthy and safe choices.
They will be supported and guided in their learning and in the development of their skills, confidence and self esteem. They will have opportunities to take part in activities such as play, recreation and sport which will contribute to healthy growth and development.
They will have the opportunity, along with Parents and Carers to be heard and involved in decisions which affect them, and be encouraged to play active roles in their school with appropriate guidance and supervision.
They will have help to overcome social, educational, physical and economic inequalities and be accepted as part of the community in which they live and learn.
