Sinclairtown Primary School is situated in East Kirkcaldy and is part of the Viewforth High School Area Group. The School was built in 1932 and sits in it s own extensive grounds with panoramic views over the River Forth.
The school is arranged in 7 double class areas which provides the opportunity for an effective teaching approach. Additional accommodation includes a gameshall, dining hall, music room, I.C.T. Suite and learning Support base.
Close working relationships within the Area Group have enabled all five schools to raise attainment through close collaboration, creative resourcing and the development of a common curriculum. Joint initiatives will continue ensuring equality and continuity of provision.
Gallatown Nursery is within easy walking distance and an extensive induction programme operates ensuring a smooth transition from Nursery in to Primary 1. This process is supported by a Stepping Stones Assistant and is managed by the DHT.
Sinclairtown promotes strong links with Rosslyn School, a school for pupils with Special Needs. We have operated integration projects which involve pupils in both establishments. These have been highly successful, enjoyable and enriching experiences for all of those involved.
We have a very supportive School Board and an active Parent/Teacher Group. Parents are involved in various school activities, e. g. Computing, Keyboard Wizards, Cycling Proficiency, classroom volunteers and outings.
Our aim is to create an atmosphere of cooperation and partnership where pupils, parents and staff work together to provide the best possible educational experience for our pupils. A two way dialogue is encouraged and an open door policy is in operation. We have a well established Pupil Council and a healthy, competitive House System. Pupils are encouraged to help and support each other through schemes such as The Buddy System, The Paired Reading programme and playground monitoring.
We have the usual complement of visiting specialists i.e..P.E., Drama, Music and Art. Some pupils also receive tuition in violin, viola and piano.
There are links with other agencies such as Medical, Psychological and Social Work Services and appropriate involvement is arranged if required.
Extra curricular activities include, Football, Netball, Rugby, Dance, Chess I.C.T. and Percussion. A Rresidential Experiences is offered to Primary 7 pupils at Ardroy Outdoor Centre. We make the most of every opportunity available to us in order to enrich learning experiences for our pupils. Excursions of an educational cultural and sporting nature are encouraged.
Sinclairtown is a happy, hard working school and we are all committed to proving just how good we are.
