SportsSTARS in Fife
Fife Council Active Communities team deliver a wide range of sports coaching sessions across Fife for people of all ages. These sessions are designed to provide a fun environment for children to take part in regular sport sessions that may not be available locally. Our coaching team ensure that everyone enjoys taking part and looks forward to attending each week. The programme supports children to develop physical fitness as well as other essential life skills such as communication, team work & resilience.
We currently have over 30 sessions with more than 380 children taking part in activities across Fife each week. The programme includes a variety of sports including badminton, basketball, handball, netball as well as Trysport sessions that provide different sports each week.
Each term we host a festival for handball and netball participants. These festivals bring together all of the participants from across Fife to take part in fun competitive games against others. This provides the opportunity for children to work towards a goal and experience taking part in a competitive sport event in a fun environment.
Our coaches are extremely welcoming, committed and passionate about making each and every session as enjoyable as possible. As well as out paid coaching staff we have over 40 volunteers supporting children every week within our sessions. We provide a fantastic environment for people to learn how to coach and offer training opportunities to upskill our coaches of tomorrow.
We have recently added adult sessions to our programme in Handball and Netball. These sessions provide a great opportunity for adults to take part in regular sport in a recreational environment. Currently we offer:
Handball, Tuesday 8pm to 9pm, Beath High
Walking Netball, Monday 8pm to 9pm, Woodmill High School.
More classes are set to be announced soon!
