Due to a data glitch, Fife Council is asking residents in the West of Fife to re-check their new bin collection dates by visiting  www.fifedirect.org.uk/bincalendar  Anyone who viewed or downloaded their online calendar 13 - 22 August needs to review their bin pick-up dates.

The downloadable calendar (PDF version) only shows bin pick-up dates from 17 September 2018 onwards (please ignore information prior to this date).

Both the online text and PDF bin calendars need to be re-checked by residents for accuracy.

Almost 60,000 households will see a change to the day they receive recycling and waste collections, from the week commencing 17 September. Landfill bins have been tagged to inform residents about their new online collection calendar.

Shaun Kenyon, Waste Operations Manager, Fife Council, said: “Due to a data error, some calendars were not correctly updated when we started tagging landfill bins. I fully apologise to all residents affected for any inconvenience caused, and I am asking people in the West of Fife to please re-check their bin calendar if they downloaded it between 13 and 22 August.

“I would also like to reassure residents that the calendars are now correct, and that we are on-track for the changes to bin pick-ups to start on the 17 September.”

Fife Council has had some calls and some enquiries via social media from residents about their bin calendar, and steps were taken as quickly as possible to put these right.

Only some calendars in the West of Fife have been impacted by the data error.

Most bin calendars in the West of Fife are changing, and the new collection calendars are now online, and are downloadable. If your bin is tagged, then you need to go online to access your electronic bin calendar to see if your pick-ups have changed.

Residents can find out which day their household waste and recycling bins will be collected by simply entering their postcode. Once you have selected your property, you can access/ download a copy of your calendar, or print it out.

This follows a previous announcement on bin calendar changes.

To help with the transition to the new bin collection routes in West fife, there will be no special uplift collections  for bulky household items, including includes fridges, freezers and furniture in West Fife during the weeks of 17 and 24 of September. Householders in West Fife will be able to book a special uplift for the week commencing 1 October.

Central and East Fife are not affected by these changes.
