Learn to Swim

Learn to Swim

Encouraging your child to learn to swim is one of the most important opportunities you can give them. If you get children interested in swimming when they're young there's a good chance they'll enjoy the water for the rest of their lives.

Scottish Swimming has developed a new National Framework for swimming in Scotland which provides a clear set of national standards and a pathway which allows you to follow how your child is progressing, and what this actually means in term of their swimming ability.

Enrol your child in swimming lessons today and you'll also have peace of mind that they're safer when they're near water.

The Scottish Swimming Learn to Swim scheme is offered at Woodmill HS, Dunfermline on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday during term time. Lessons start from 1700 most days.

Woodmill HS offers a great environment for kids to learn to swim. It has a small teaching pool which isn't too scary for absolute beginners. Plus there is only ever one class in the pool every 30 minutes so there are no distractions - just one teacher, one lifeguard and 10 enthusiastic swimmers!

Our lessons are for children age 4+ years. At the moment we offer:

BEGINNERS - to become water confident and develop core aquatic skills (without adult assistance but with buoyancy aids as required).

SWIM SKILLS 1 - to further develop water confidence and develop core aquatic skills without aids.

SWIM SKILLS 2 - to increase the competency of the core aquatic skills and develop basic stroke technique.

SWIM SKILLS 3 - introduce more advanced stroke techniques and achive Triple S standard.

We also offer specific lessons for OLDER BEGINNERS age 8+ years where they learn with their peers rather than younger kids.

A 10-week block costs £36.00 (includes any certificates) with Fifestyle discounts of up to 50% available for eligible learners.

We have a few SPACES at all levels starting when the school term resumes.

Although the swimming lessons take place at Woodmill HS, they are administered through Queen Anne HS.
