Electric blanket testing 2018
Archived news: published on Monday 06 Aug 2018 by Fife Council
The electric blanket testing project will start in September. The partners in the project: Fife Council’s Trading Standards; Fife Cares and the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service aim to reduce the risk of house fires and injuries caused by unsafe electric blankets.
Dawn Adamson, Trading Standards Service Manager explains, “This project has been running successfully for a number of years now. Last year 38% of the electric blankets tested were considered to be unsafe to use. I would urge Fifers to bring their blankets for testing this year. It’s free, each blanket only takes a few minutes to test, but will give you peace of mind when using them”.
Events will be publicised in the local press or you can find an event that suits you at www.fifedirect.org.uk/electricblankets.
The first event will be in Inverkeithing Civic Centre, 10 Queen Street, on Tuesday 11th September from 11 am until 2 pm.
