In March Fife Council will invest £47,000 improving the road network in Inverkeithing.

We’ll be carrying out carriageway resurfacing on King Street, Inverkeithing from Monday 18 March 2019 for one week.

Cllr Altany Craik, Convener of Economy, Tourism, Strategic Planning and Transportation Committee said: “We maintain over 2,400 km of roads in Fife and we are spending nearly £8 million this year repairing and improving them.
“Our road network is vital to support economic development, inward investment, tourism, leisure and travel to work. Almost everyone in Fife uses our roads on a daily basis, which is why this type of maintenance work is so essential.”

The works on King Street will be carried out in phases:

Phase 1 – a road closure will be in place from 09:30 to 16:30 each day from Commercial Road to Alma Street.

Phase 2 - will be from Heriot Street to Commercial Road. There will be a one-way system from Heriot Street to Alma Street. Three-way temporary traffic lights will be used to ensure access to Commercial Road and King Street car park. Traffic restriction will be in place from 09:30 to 16:30 each day until this phase of the works is finished.

King Street car park will remain open during the works.

There will be access for emergency services but access for residents and businesses will be at the discretion of the contractor. See attached map for diversion route.

Cllr Craik concluded: “We apologise for any inconvenience and delay caused by these essential works, and we will try to keep any disturbance to a minimum. Your patience and co-operation during this time is greatly appreciated.”
