Kick-start for North East Fife buses

Kick-start for North East Fife buses

Starting this month two new bus journeys will help commuters in North East Fife.

Following our successful bid to ‘Smarter Choices, Smarter Places’ two mini kick-start projects are now commissioned, offering additional journeys for commuters. Communities in North East Fife told us they’d like early morning journeys from Newport on Tay to Glenrothes and a journey option arriving in St Andrews before 7am.  Stagecoach and Moffat & Williamson have won the tenders for these new journeys.

The new bus services will start on Monday 30 January 2017 and are as follows:

X53 – Stagecoach - An additional journey to reconnect Newport on Tay with an arrival in Cupar prior to 8am and Glenrothes for 8.30am

92 – Moffat & Williamson - This addition will allow for an arrival in St Andrews before 7.00am.

Paths for All is administering the ‘Smarter Choices, Smarter Places’ initiative. The Scottish Government has invested £5 million in this project to encourage less car use and more journeys by foot, bicycle, public transport and car share.
