Sunflower growing competition winners presentation
Fife Council fostering families have been growing sunflowers for a sunflower growing competition over the summer and the prizes were awarded yesterday. The prizes of large Jolly Scarecrows recognise all the care and attention given to the plants to help them grow and flower.
Angela Cheney foster carer said: “My children were all involved in planting and caring for their sunflowers. They had great fun watching the seeds germinate and grow and were thrilled when the flowers burst out.”
Cllr Bryan Poole Executive Spokesperson for Children and Families said: "Thank-you to all the fostering families who took part and congratulations to those who managed to overcome the poor summer weather to grow their sunflowers. Fostering families are amazing because of the wonderful care and commitment they give to children who need a foster family through all the seasons of the year.
Being a Foster Carer is one of the most challenging and rewarding roles anyone can play in a child’s life. We are keen to recruit more foster carers in Fife so that the children and young people can stay as close to their local communities as possible.
