Camdean Primary SchoolCamdean Primary School was opened in 1953. It is a co-educational, non-denominational school and one of four schools in Rosyth.

The school comprises 16 classrooms, gym hall, dining hall, stage area and office accommodation. A purpose built nursery is attached to the school with its own entrance and garden/play area. There are extensive areas for play with both tarmac and grass areas all around the school, including trim trail play equipment. A community garden and an area for our forest kindergarten and outdoor learning activities have been developed behind the school

We strive to create an ethos in our school which promotes the highest possible standard of education for our pupils. The curriculum is enriched by the involvement of a Music specialist. We also have a number of visiting instrumental specialists.

There is a Parent Council called ‘Friends of Camdean’ which has organised many successful social and fund raising events over the years. The group work together to support the work of the school by organising events; providing additional resources for nursery and school and engaging with councillors on the school's behalf. Most recently Friends of Camdean provided funding for our new Jubilee Library.

At Camdean we strive to encourage partnerships with parents.   We welcome the support of parent helpers who play a significant role in the running of the school.  Any parents wishing to offer some time to school should contact either of the Depute Head Teachers. We have a Pupil Council which meets regularly throughout the year and provides a valuable input to school life.

We work with the Active Schools Co-ordinator to provide a range of extra curricular activities, these include multi activity for P1-3 children, dancing and karate. Dunfermline Athletic in the Community and Goalzone provide us with coaches for football.

We also usually organise an extended residential outing for pupils in P7. Recent visits have included Belgium, Lockerbie, Northern France, London and Portsmouth. We also utilise the local environment to support a wide variety of outdoor learning opportunities and work closely with the Rosyth Garden City Association.
