Welcome to Glenwood High School
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Glenwood High School Web Site.
The school has a long tradition of service to the young people and community in the Western part of the town of Glenrothes. Staff are proud to be associated with the school and committed to continuing this service. Evidence of this can be found in our wide range of courses that offer flexibility for pupils as well as a comprehensive and popular community programme.
The HMIE Inspection Report, published in January 2010, highlighted many positive aspects of the school and suggested areas for improvement. The school Action Plan addresses these points and we strive to make continuous improvement based on careful planning, rigorous monitoring and self evaluation. We encourage excellence and aspire to be the best that we can be.
As Headteacher, I am conscious of the privilege and responsibility which my post brings. I wish to build upon the close working relationship with parents/carers, families and the wider community. Opportunities for improved partnership working are presented by the Parental Involvement Act. This enables all parents/carers to be more closely involved in the life and work of the school through the parent forum and/or parent council. For further information about our parent council check the main menu on this website.
We enjoy good links with our five associated primary schools and this enables us to make the transition as smooth as possible for pupils with a focus on continuity and progression.
We look for and encourage a commitment to learning from all of our pupils and hope that they are proud of their association with Glenwood High School.
Wearing the school uniform is an outward expression of their commitment to and pride in their school and I look to parents/carers for their support in reinforcing this view.
The purpose of this website is to give you information about our school and we hope you find it helpful. If you require further information not yet provided on our website please contact the school or arrange a visit. You will receive a warm welcome.
Finally, I wish to thank you for visiting our website.
