Higher and National 5 RMPS pupils recently travelled to Samye Ling Monastery and Tibetan Centre in Eskdalemuir.  This helped pupils understand and experience a monastic Buddhist’s life within the monastery for the Buddhism section of our course.  The pupils were taken on a fantastic tour around the temple by a Buddhist nun, taking in the intricate detailing of the buildings, art and scriptures. They had a great opportunity to watch Buddhists prayers within the temple and engage in a calming, mind-stilling meditation exercise which pupils say they enjoyed most about the excursion. This was a memorable and exciting trip for all pupils which runs every year with the RMPS department.

Last Sunday, Mr Barclay, Mr McClymont and Miss Kinnell travelled to St James’ Park, home of Newcastle United with 40 pupils to attend Newcastle’s home fixture against English giants, Liverpool FC.  The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the match and were treated to an electric atmosphere given the fixture was a sell-out with 52,303 fans in attendance.  The pupils’ hopes of a high scoring thriller were never realised as two quick first half goals set the score for the match which ended in a 1-1 draw, although a wonder strike by Liverpool’s Brazilian star player, Coutinho certainly made up for the lack of goals in the game!  Everyone involved had a fantastic ‘Premiership Experience’ and we look forward to our next Premier League outing wherever that may be!

Professional dance teacher, Louise McLaughlan, from The Dance Academy will be delivering a jazz and lyrical workshop in Dunfermline High School on Thursday 23 October.  Free dance passes to her studio will be issued to some lucky participants!  Any pupil in S1 or S2 looking to sign up should see Mrs Gibson as soon as possible.

The school will finish up for the October break at 2.55pm on Friday 6 October.   All pupils and staff will return on Monday 23 October 2017.
