Fife Assessor is responsible for compiling and maintaining two documents:
(1) The Valuation Roll is a public document which contains an entry for all non domestic properties in Fife except those specifically excluded by rating law. Rateable Values are assessed for each entry listed on the Valuation Roll. This forms the basis of the calculation for Business Rates.
(2) The Council Tax Valuation List is a public document and contains the addresses and Council Tax bands of all domestic properties in Fife. This forms the basis of the calculation for council tax liability.
The Scottish Assessors Association website contains valuable information regarding the Council Tax Valuation List and Valuation Roll. You can view the Council Tax Band or Rateable Value of any property in Scotland. There are online facilities for completing Return of Information forms or appealing against Council Tax Bands or Rateable Values.
