Walking and cycling

Adults need 30 minutes and children 60 minutes of physical activity on most days of the week, at least five days. Walking and cycling is a great way to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.  We all need to think about the way we travel for work, school or leisure.


Work

If you live within a 2 mile radius of your work place, have a go at walking. It would only take you approximately 20 minutes to walk and you would reap the benefits, improving your health with every step you take.

If you live within a 5 mile radius of your work place, try cycling to work. Not only would you improve your fitness levels but it can take less time than getting in the car and finding a car park space.

You don’t have to pay to walk and cycle, try doing it for a week and see how you feel! There is nothing to loose!


School

If you are able to and live close enough to school, try walking and cycling.  By walking or cycling to school you will improve your fitness and be more alert when you get into class, being ready to learn.  Almost 90% of all schools across Fife have cycle parking in place. If cycling is not for you, get walking. You will find that both are just as fun!


Leisure

There are beautiful walking and cycling routes all over Fife. Experience as much of Fife’s beauty as you can by getting out in the fresh air and having a walk or cycle.  Whatever you have planned at the weekend think about how you will get there. Whether you are popping out to the shops or visiting family and friends you will find that you can probably walk or cycle.
