Glenrothes Town Centre Action Plan

The Fife Partnership Strategic Assessment 2014 for Glenrothes highlighted the following areas as high level priorities to consider within the context of the Local Community Plan

·       Town Centres and Business Development
·       Early Years and Youth Development
·       Healthy lives.
An Action plan for Glenrothes Town Centre has been developed to include these elements and to reflect the important part that the town centre can play in the wider community and economy.
In Glenrothes we want to help support existing businesses within the town centre to ensure sustainability but also to help them develop and adapt to a changing market place. Provide opportunities for start-up businesses and encourage and support innovative ideas in and around the town centre.
We are keen to involve young people in the development and support of town centres. This is both in terms of the current offer but to ensure that they help in the creation of a town centre that will be fit for their future and through supporting a culture of enterprise and innovation we are looking to promote positive destinations after school.
In promoting healthy lives we are keen to ensure connectivity is in place both in terms of walking and cycling and the activity is encouraged. The improvement of the physical environment has been proven to play a major part in mental and physical health. A more attractive and welcoming physical environment will also help attract footfall and encourage people to stay longer and make repeat visits.
