Animal health and welfare

Fife Council Animal Health Officers carry out a range of duties and enforcement activities:

They enforce the following areas of the legislation:

  • Controls on the spread of animal diseases
  • The identification and movement of animals
  • Animal import controls
  • The welfare of animals
  • Animal feed hygiene

They assist the farming community in meeting their obligations towards the health and welfare of livestock

They inspect farms, markets and shows

They investigate complaints of animal cruelty in commercial premises

They assist with feed hygiene registration and carry out on-farm inspections.
