Garage arrears

Your lock-up rental charge of £15.60 per fortnight (this charge is subject to VAT if the tenant of the lock-up does not rent their home from Fife Council) is payable separately from housing rent charges as it is a separate account.

A lock-up tenancy is a non-secure tenancy, therefore if your account falls into arrears, you will be issued with 3 arrears letters with the third being a final notice to quit.  After the notice to quit date, if your account has been cleared, no further action will be taken.  If most of the arrears have been cleared but a small balance remains, then we will revert back to the 2nd stage and the arrears process will start again.

If no payment has been made to the arrears balance, a 1 day line will be raised to have the locks changed and the lock-up repossessed by Fife Council.

If the tenant has left property in the lock-up they are given 14 days to arrange to collect keys and clear the lock-up.  If this is not done, the tenant is recharged for the work, including the lock-change.

If you rent a Garage site, you will be issued with an annual invoice. If your account falls into arrears, the same procedure as above would apply.
