Background to City Region Planning
Strategic Development Plans (SDPs) have been produced for the four city regions in Scotland (Edinburgh, Dundee, Glasgow and Aberdeen). Fife has strong links to Edinburgh and Dundee and is included within the plans for both these city region areas. The area from Kincardine to Glenrothes and Leven is within the Edinburgh and South East Scotland Strategic Development Plan (SESplan). North and east Fife is covered by the TAYplan Strategic Development Plan which also covers Dundee, Angus and Perth & Kinross.
Strategic Development Plans set out a long-term strategy for future development across the city regions. These strategies form the basis for local devepment plans, including the FIFEplan, which identifies specific sites.
Strategic Development Plans for SESplan and TAYplan have now been approved by Scottish Minister.
There is more information on the Scottish Government website about the introduction of Strategic Development Plans.
Fife Structure Plan
The Fife Structure Plan 2006-2026 has been replaced by SESplan and TAYplan Strategic Development Plans.
We produce a regular e-bulletin with an update on the progress and status of the different plans which make up the Fife Development Plan. If you would like to receive this by email, please register through the online form.
