Fostering and adoption

Fife Council believes that children have the right to live in a family.  If they are not able to live within their birth family, fostering can provide a positive alternative, either until they can return home or move to independence or adoption.

Offering a child a home for life is one of the biggest and most life-changing decisions you can make. It’s not a simple decision and you need to go into the process with your eyes open.

We have lots of information about Adoption on FifeDirect.  You can also find out more about fostering within the Fostering in Fife website

Some young people experience difficulties with the transition from care to independent living so Fife Council have set up the Supported Lodgings Scheme to try and make this move easier.
