Leslie Amateur Dramatic Club: Men Should Weep
Leslie Amateur Drama Club return to the Rothes Halls with Ena Lamond Stewart’s classic tale of the Morrisson family’s poverty struck life in the tenements of 1930s Glasgow. At times hilariously funny and at others tear-jerkingly grim, the audience is given a graphic insight into the hard life the families of the time endured, and yet thrived.
Men should Weep was originally written in 1947, but it wasn’t until after a revival by the 7:84 company in 1981 that it received the warm critical acclaim it currently receives. Other notable productions include the National Theatre for Scotland’s tour in 2011, directed by Graeme McLaren. Men Should Weep is regularly studied as a Higher English set text.
